Limit switch sensor

Limit switch sensor is one of the earliest type of sensor that work mechanically. This sensor basically a switch that can be in a state of ON or OFF as a result of mechanical movement.
Limit switches are basically formed from basic switch are then packaged in single unit to be used in accordance with particular application.

Picture below are some basic types of switches are widely used. Due to reasons of the development or application needs, the basic switch is changed to limit switches as shown in the following figure:

NO Contact (Normally Open) and NC Contact (Normally close)
In general limit switch sensor has two pairs of contacts are 1 pair of NO contact and 1 pair of NC cotact. However for other types, there are also only have one contact which has only one common.

Furthermore, the important thing from this contact is about the current and voltage that can be used for contact. It can be read on the nameplate located on the body limit switch or manual.
We already know, that the ability of current conductivity must be tailored to the ability of the contact. For safe installation are advised not to directly connect to load, but as much possible is passed through the relay.
