Temperature sensor

Temperature sensor is a sensor to detect the temperature of an object or room.
Temperature sensors are very widely used both in industry and daily life due to temperature or thermal parameters are very influential in the process.
At the first, the temperature sensor is a thermometer, and with the development and automation needs of particular temperature sensor was made. In the field of automation, temperature sensor is usually called temperature control because it serves not only detect the temperature but also can regulate the temperature by controlling the ON-OFF of heater.

To detect and to control the temperature, a temperature control consists of itself and termocouple. Termocouple will produce a voltage proportional to temperature changes. And the voltage will be processed by temperature controller to be displayed or signal digital output.

Thre are various types of termocouple based on the material and the temperature measurement range. The type are, K,E,J,N, platinum type B,R,S, T, C and M. In general, only the K and J type are widely used in industri or automation for reasons of character, measurement range, and price.
About each type of termocouple can be explained as follows:
  1. Type K, range: -200 to 1350 degree Celcius,  material:  chromel,alumel.
  2. Type E, material : chromel, constantan.
  3. Type J, range : -40 to 750 degree Celcius, material : iron, constantan
  4. Type N, range : upper 1200 degree Celcius , material : Nicrosil, Nisil.
  5. Type T, range : -200 to 350 degree Celcius, material : copper, constantan.
  6. Type C, range : 0 to 2320 degree Celcius, material : tungsten, rhenium.
  7. Type M, range: max 1400 degree Celcius, material : Nickel
  8. Type B, range : max 1800 degree Celcius, material : Platinum, rhodium.
  9. Type S, range : max 1600 degree Celcius, material : Platinum, rhodium.
  10. Type R, range : max 1600 degree Celcius, material : Platinum, rhodium.
The selection of termocouple type of coure can be done based on the temperature range to be measured.
